How do you know when you’ve met “the one”? Here are a few signs you might have fallen hard for love.
No matter what happens, you want to work it out
Every couple argues and has misunderstandings. If you’ve been in the dating world for a while you may have gotten very used to leaving when things got tense. But if you’re with the right one, you not only want to smooth the rough edges of your relationship but also learn from your disagreement. There’s no power struggle in your arguments even when you both want the other to see your side. Ultimately, you want fix things, no matter how much effort or how long it takes.
Your partner’s quirks are also the things you love most about them
Perhaps your mate is a bit clumsy or can’t use the microwave properly to save their life. While these things might normally be a source of irritation in a relationship, you find them endearing. In a good relationship you accept your partner’s shortcomings, and even to a certain degree, embrace them. You come to believe that the very things your partner needs to improve on are what make them unique and special.
External influences become less pronounced
When your friends have been critical of your loves in the past, you’ve probably agreed deep down. You might have even been looking for your friends to say something negative about them to give you a reason to leave. But what might have seemed like acceptable behavior from your friends in the past takes on a new light when you’re with your soul mate. You feel defensive of your partner when your friends or family criticize them without cause, and you may even distance yourself from people who don’t support your relationship.
You don’t see your partner through rose-colored glasses
Just because you embrace your partner’s goofy habits or shortcomings doesn’t mean you view them unrealistically. When you’re with The One you’re conscious of what your partner is like and more importantly, what you both are like together as a couple. You don’t get caught up in a fantasy about your partner or your new relationship, but see them both for the truth of what they are.
You just know
That little voice that tells you things sometimes makes sure you’re listening. All the doubts that crept up in your head – even the ones you wouldn’t let yourself feel or truly hear – are gone when it comes to meeting the right person. You don’t wonder…is this person The One? You know it as surely as you know your name or the size shoe you wear. It just becomes another fact about you when you realize you’ve got a deep connection with someone.
You become yourself… again
Maybe you love watching the History Channel or latch-hooking rugs in your spare time, but up until now you’ve kept that part of yourself on the down low. When you’re with The One you not only accept their quirks but your own as well. Being with someone who loves you completely often inspires you to show your true self.
