Would you take dating advice from a celebrity? Their dating life is certainly different than your average single person. They’re in the spotlight and have their mistakes played out for everyone to see.
Fame is tough on their relationships. But maybe that’s why it’s so intriguing to see what they have to say about finding love and keeping it.
Brandi Glanville, Drinking and Dating: PS Social Media Is Ruining Romance
I’d heard recently that Brandi Glanville (from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) was writing a dating book, tentatively called Drinking and Dating. This is a follow-up of sorts to her previous book, Drinking and Tweeting: And Other Brandi Blunders, which I adored for its blunt honesty and hilarious viewpoint.
Glanville was married to actor Eddie Cibrian for nine years and had a very public divorce after he left her for costar LeAnn Rimes. Details of their marriage and divorce were everywhere, so if anyone has some advice on how to handle themselves when you need to start again after 40 it’s Glanville.
Niecy Nash, It’s Hard to Fight Naked
Nash is happily married and has had a web series on Yahoo called “Let’s Talk About Love,” so she’s no stranger to doling out advice. She also setup her pal, fellow actress and member of The View Sherri Shepherd, to her now husband Lamar Salley. So she’s got skills as a matchmaker. Or was it luck?
Nash says on her website, “This book is fun, laugh out loud and has REAL take away. You will learn a lot about yourself, the opposite sex, how traditional myths have gotten us of track, and ultimately how hard it is to fight naked. If you start naked you might avoid a fight altogether!”
It’s Hard to Fight Naked was released last month by Gallery Books.
The book instantly went to number one on the New York Times bestseller list, and even spawned a movie, Think Like A Man. The movie is based on the premise that women have read Harvey’s book and are now using this knowledge against the men in their lives.
His book was meant to “empower women everywhere to take control of their relationships.” He shares insights on how men really think about falling in love, staying in love, being intimate, and making a commitment.
Can Celebrity Dating Books Really Help You?
I think you should take advice from a variety of sources and then use everything you read and hear and apply it to your own specific situation. No one person or book will work for every situation in your life, but you can find inspiration anywhere, including these fun and heartfelt books on dating from your favorite celebs.
